GRASP OPENING: Friday¹

We gather for a shared experience featuring highlights from the program Friday at GRASP. The openings reflect a core value of GRASP: that art plays a crucial role in sustainable change. This is why every opening begins with an artistic experience. 

Julian Abraham “Togar” is an Indonesian drummer and artist who has worked with local music communities worldwide. He presents an improvisational method influenced by musical ensembles from Northern Sumatra where drumming conveys human prayers to the spirit world.  

In connection to the exhibition “Lyden af” at Museum of Contemporary Art at Gasværket in Roskilde Harbour this fall of 2026 Togar will meet and play with local musicians in open improvisational sessions and workshops His installation “KETOK Studio” which is part of the exhibition adress the communities and situations that arise when people meet around sound.

He explaines: “For me, all things are connected: from atom level to larger societal structures. I am fascinated by the fact that even small interventions can change something to form new, sustainable support systems”. For this opening Friday at GRASP Togar will be joined by musician Xenia Xamanek and together they will perform an improvisational piece conveying the principles behind Togars research and practice.  

Togars installation is showed at Gasværket by Roskilde Harbour from the 26th of September – 13th of December and is part of the exhibition “Lyden af” by The Museum of Contemporary Art.  

After the performance we will hear three short speeches from different voices in the program. Speakers. They will be announced very soon.
