Exploring Other Worlds Through Shared Storytelling and Sensory Shift

  • Friday 2 October
  • Saturday 3 October

When the future feels overwhelming, dystopic or difficult to grasp, it becomes harder to trust that alternatives are possible. This workshop approaches imagination as a collective and practical tool for speculating on what could happen next.

Taking place in complete darkness, the session begins with shared storytelling, where participants develop speculative narratives that extend beyond the human including environments, materialities, and other forms of life. These imaginaries are then translated into physical states and spatial relations. Rather than remaining abstract, ideas are explored through the body so as to be felt, transformed, and made tangible.

Darkness functions both as a physical condition and a conceptual tool: without vision, perception shifts, familiar hierarchies between the senses soften, allowing other modes of listening, relating, and imagining to emerge.

Moving between individual and collective experience, the group forms a temporary space for alter-worlding: a situated exploration of how different worlds might coexist, and how futures can be sensed as shared, embodied possibilities.
