- Thursday 1 October
What does it take to sustain and develop vibrant local music communities at a time when increasing monopolisation and commercialisation are reshaping the live music industry?
This panel brings together key voices from Denmark’s live music sector for a conversation about the challenges – and, importantly, the solutions – they see for strengthening independent and volunteer-driven music communities in Danish cities.
The discussion takes its starting point in a keynote by Anders Wahrén, CEO of VEGA, who reflects on the venue’s new strategy. But the questions raised extend far beyond VEGA itself. They are questions the entire sector must confront: Who takes responsibility for emerging artists? Who ensures there is room for music that has not yet found its audience? And what do we stand to lose if independent venues leave the stage to market forces?
