How do you create artistic spaces outside traditional institutions? What happens when art is intentionally used to build communities and dreams? And what role should the artist take in that process?
In a unique collaboration between the social housing initiative A Dream for Tomorrow in Taastrupgaard and Roskilde Festival, a creative youth community unfolds. Under the title Our Dreams of Tomorrow, young people from Taastrupgaard have worked together with artist Sahar Jamili to develop a work that has been presented at Roskilde Festival.
The project is rooted in a shared ambition to strengthen the role of art in both community and individual life by opening up new ways of experiencing the world – and making art more accessible to young people who do not have easy access to established art institutions.
The process is being explored and documented in collaboration with Skoletjenesten (The School Service), and the first experiences and reflections are shared in a conversation between Sia Andersen (head of the social housing initiative), Signe Brink Wehl (Roskilde Festival Group), and Sahar Jamili, moderated by Henrik Guldager Johnsen from Skoletjenesten.
